THE STORY...

After we saw ‘DRUMMER HOFF’ in 2004, we sailed on out through the Pacific, and it was during that time that we decided we would build ‘LITTLE TOOT’. That was the easy part. Now we had to design the boat and plan how we would achieve it.

We were returning to Panama and had some down time in the Galapagos islands. On a Sunday afternoon we put pen to paper and sought a way to design a mini tug that would suit our needs. Although inspired by ‘Drummer Hoff’ we wanted a boat that was perhaps more seaworthy, so we opted for a displacement hard chine design which would hopefully give the boat a better motion in real conditions.

After about six bottles of wine that same Sunday afternoon, Clint, the owner, had committed to best quality standards and unlimited budget!!!???

The first builder’s model was way to ambitious and far to yacht - like. The second model (As you see on the home page ) is what we settled for, and serious tug boaters, like Clint’s Old man, gave it the seal of approval.

Reality set in with Paul and Haden when they realized that Clint was totally committed and already buying hardware for the new tug! At this stage there was no question that it was going to happen, so Haden and Paul sat down and started to plan the building of Little Toot.

The rest is history. The next time you see a happy little tugboat with a willing attitude, it may well be ‘Little Toot’.

You be the judge.
